Braulio’s visit

braulio-15-8-2008Another great session from the one and only Braulio Estima took place at tha academy on Sat 14 June.

We started off the session with some light rolling to warm up, apart from Rob who drew the short straw although that depends on which way you look at it.  In actual fact, it could be Rob got the bonus ball by rolling with man himself. 

After our warm up we spent the afternoon working from the butterfly guard and, as always the techniques were absolutely top quality. Some nice and simple but  all very effective and you actually find yourself getting annoyed as to the reason  you’ve never thought of it yourself.

 

Some other techniques were more advanced but with Braulio on hand we all got through them with relative ease, obviously at the expense of gagging on a choke or feeling a joint being manipulated into a position it was never supposed to experience…..Beautiful
Once again a great training session for those of us who made the effort to show up which unfortunately brings me to what was the only down side to the day.  There was a relatively small turnout of support from club members in Jersey.

 

A lot of time and effort is put in to getting the likes of Braulio over to train with us, so if we all want to continue getting instructing of this caliber, please can we have a bit more support next time he visits.Apparently, this was not the case in Guernsey the next day.

Some of the expressions on Rob’s face, which I must say were a delight to see as it meant he was on the receiving end for a change, told us Braulio ensured Rob was very uncomfortable with expertly executed  pin’s and submission’s. Ha ha ha.  Sorry Rob.
