Gracie Barra Channel Islands

Performances at the BJJ British Open,

Andy Le Page: Gold in the Featherweight White belt.
Matt Norris: Silver in the Purple belt Heavy weight.
Matt Delauney: Bronze in the White belt super featherweight.

JUDO
Chris Goldsbrough GBCI purple belt has been selected to represent Guernsey at Judo in the forthcoming Islands games in Aland, the games start next weekend, and we will keep you posted on his progress.

Endurance
Our most senior member of the Academy Stuart Mc Intyre took part in the annual Itex walk this weekend, this is a 48.1 mile trek around the cost of the Island in aid of charity, Stuart completed the trek in just under 12 hours,
Well-done great achievement.

Great news for Gracie Barra Guernsey

Gracie Barra Guernsey have moved to a different venue, the Kings Club Leisure Centre. We are training on the old mats for now, but hopefully not for long.We are currently working with the local Judo club with organizing the venue. The centre is hopefully going to invest £80k on a purpose built dojo for us!! We have already started getting sponsorship from different places to buy our own new mats (about £6k worth).
If everything goes to plan it’s going to be an amazing venue!! we’ll have access to gym, sauna, pools, bar and restaurant!!.

Sessions are changing to Mondays 7-9, Wednesday 7-9, Fridays 6-8 and
Saturday morning (time still being worked out).

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Private lessons

Private lessons are a great way to improve your BJJ game .If it for competitions or general improvement towards the next Belt level.

If you have an area of your game that you would like to improve, then private lessons are the best way to achieve your goal.

Private lessons are normally an hour long, working on the student’s specifics requirements.

It’s always a good idea to video your private lessons for reference later; this can be arranged at the academy.

Private lesson 1 on 1 £ 30.00 discount for two or more lessons book in advanced.
Semi-private 2 students £25.00 per head.

Gracie Barra CI Jersey is opening a new BJJ class for 7 to 10 year olds

The Class is held on Saturday’s morning at 11:00 – 11:45,

Cost is £25:00 per month

The Class is instructed by Rob Staples and assisted by Matt Norris (Purple Belt)

Other classes for age groups 11 to 15 years are held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 – 7:30

Cost £30:00 per month

New Mixed Martial art Classes

News

New classes at the Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in Jersey.

Andrew Toporis (Topo) will be teaching a new Mixed Martial arts class on Wednesdays evening at 6:00 – 7:30 pm. ( £ 6:00 for a class)

The Class will consist of Fitness, conditioning, striking , takedowns and submission techniques. This class is aimed at the beginner to intermediate level.

Topo also Teaches a No Gi submission class on Monday evenings at 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Intermediate to advanced level.

Topo has a good track record in MMA other disciplines, he currently holds a Brown Belt in BJJ under Braulio Estima (link), and also he holds Black belts in several other Martial art disciplines.

Braulio Estima seminar rescheduled

The Braulio Estima seminar that was scheduled for next week has been put back until July. Braulio will be with us next month, the dates to be confirmed in the next week or so.
