ADCC 2009 Absolute Finals

Just a quick post for those of you who are intrested in seeing Braulio’s astonishing victory in the Absolute finals of the ADCC’s 2009.

I personally havn’t seen this video yet so I can’t say what the quality is like.  Just found it on YouTube and thought it might be of interest to you all.

I am hoping to get a detailed report up here soon with regards to this event.

Braulio Estima Scoops Double Gold

Braulio Estima scoops double gold at the ADCC finals in Barcelona, Braulio won his weight and the absolute divisions at the tournament this weekend.The ADCC is probably the most prestigious grappling competition in the world, it’s the tournament that all the top grapplers  would like to win.

Winning this tournament at your weight division is an achievement, but to win the absolutes as well really does put you in a different class. So congratulations to Braulio from all here at Gracie Barra Channel Islands.

That’s the reason you should do your best to be at Braulios class on Dec 12th-13th when he comes over.

Braulio Estima Returns

Braulio Estima is hoping to return on the weekend of the 12th-13 December these dates are subject to change.

So an early Christmas present for us all up at the club.
Most of us up at the club have been fortunate to train with Braulio over recent years as he makes as many trips over to Gracie Barra Channel Islands as he can.So if you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity to train with a multiple world champion and one of the best instuctors in BJJ around then you better put these dates in your diary.
On behalf of us all at Gracie Barra Channel Islands we would like to wish Braulio all the best for this weekends ADCC Finals in Barcelona.

Kent Open

Competing in the Kent Open this year is Matt Norris.

Matt competes at purple belt heavyweight and has had good results in recent competitions:
Jan 08 Europeans Bronze / blue belt
Seni 08 Gracie Invitational Gold / blue belt
Bristol Open summer leg 08 Gold in weight
Silver Absolutes/ blue belt
Jan 09 Europeans silver Absolutes/blue (After which Matt was presented his Purple belt from world champion Braulio Estima)
Bristol Open winter leg Silver Heavyweight/ Silver Absolutes Purple belt
2nd Grab & Pull 09 Tournament Bronze Heavyweight/Super Heavy combined/Purple belt
British Open 09 Silver Heavyweight/ Purple belt
All above competitions was with GI
Good luck to Matt and we look forward to helping him prepare for this tournament.

No Gi British Open Sun 1st Nov 09 & Kent Open BJJ Tournament 14/15 Nov 09.

If you’ve never entered any BJJ competition and your thinking about doing so but you are maybe feeling a little unsure or nervous about it,  please don’t be worried.  They’re great fun and the experience you gain is second to none, so get signed up and enjoy.
