The English Open BJJ Championship is on the 6th 7th November.This is a GI event and was formerly known as the Kent Open.It’s an easy venue to get to with plenty of transport links from surrounding airports.The English Open BJJ Championship is being held at

Gold At Brighton BJJ Open

Congratulations to Matt Norris after winning gold at the Brighton BJJ Open today Saturday 21st august. Matt won his weight division all fights won by submission.
Due to a recurring back injury Matt was unable to enter the absolute category which Matt was understandably disappointed by.

Paul how was drawn against a four stripe white belt and was unfortunate to get not get the result he would have liked in his first competition. Paul had put up a good fight but was unable to finish the more experienced opponent but gave it his best shot. Paul has taken away with him competition experience which will help him progress in BJJ and would have gained him confidence for future competitions.

Well done both of you

Brighton Open This Weekend

The Brighton BJJ Open is this weekend. It’s another trip over for Matt Norris who is a regular at this event and has a good record at this competition.Going along with Matt this year is Paul How.
Paul has been training with us in BJJ for around about twelve months and Brighton will be Pauls first BJJ competition.
When Paul started BJJ with us last year he was tipping the scales around the twenty stone mark and has now dropped down to fourteen stone, this has been a lot of hard work which included training in GI and NO-GI five to six times a week. With all this training Pauls more then ready to hit the competition circuit.
So to Paul and Matt we wish you both all the best for this weekends competition.

We will post any news on both Matt and Pauls progress as soon as we get it.

New Look Academy

As most of you who’ve been training regularly would have noticed our academy has been having a bit of a makeover recently.With thanks to some of the students who’ve been able to help out with some of the work that’s been going on (names will be mentioned at a later date).Little by little it’s gradually getting close to being finished and will be a big improvement to the academy.

We’ll put photos of the new look academy on the site soon showing the matted area,wall padding,lighting and the new look display window.

No-Gi British Open Registration

NO-GI British Open 2010

The NO-GI British Open 2010 is taking place on the 26th September and will be in the Midlands venue to be confirmed.
The NO-GI British Open is organized By Braulio Estima and his team and is one of the highlights on the British competition calender and should be a must for all those who train no-gi and want to test themselves on the no-gi circuit.
Further information on this competition will be released in the next few weeks and we will post it as soon as we get it.

There will be no Braulio session this Friday it will be the NO-GI /MMA class as usual.
Braulio Will be here this Saturday when he will be taking the junior class at 11.00-12.00 then the adults from 12.00-15.00.
There will be a NO-GI class on Sunday starting at 11.00-13.00

Braulio Estima Seminar

Braulio Estima is back in the UK and will be over to train with us the weekend of the 24th July he’s hoping that he will get here on the Friday to do the NoGi class then the Gi class on the Saturday,the Sunday session is to be confirmed.
This is just under two weeks away so get this penciled into your diary!
