On Saturday afternoon Braulio Estima was greeted by a large turn out from Gracie Barra Channel Islands; No surprise there!
As a three time world champion Braulio has a very busy schedule, so we were fortunate to to be graced with his presence this weekend. As head instructor for Gracie Barra Channel Islands, Braulio gets to visit us four or five times a year, normally from a Friday to Sunday, so we try to get as much training in with Braulio as possible at these times. This weekend was no different.
To get things underway was a warm up by Topo ( as if it wasn’t hot enough ). Once Topo had put us through our paces, Braulio explained what techniques he would be going through and breaking them down. This would ensure that everyone from the more advanced members to the newer members would have an understanding of what would be happening.
So With Rob Staples Braulios partner for these occasions (which never looks like much fun ) Braulio goes through the techniques which consist of working from spider guard to arm lock, spider guard to triangle, spider guard to omoplata.
We then went through sweeps from the spider guard with all of the above techniques having Braulios’ own little twist on them making them that bit more special.
After a couple of hours of drilling these techniques we went on to specific rolling and try to put these moves together, which is always the fun part.
After all of us having our turn in the middle trying our best to remember what we had just been shown taking our turn attacking and defending it was time to call it a day.
It was another fantastic weekend of training , so a big thank you to those of you who could make it.
Braulio should back with us in November so plenty of time for you all to get your passes.

Where’s the whippin’ photos!!!
